On the 12th Day of Christmas…

On the 12th Day of Christmas…

Happy December All!

I hope that everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving Holiday and that all was stuffed with nothing but love, happiness, and good food. As we settle into this holiday season, let us reflect on the many good things that has happen this year and prayerfully good of what is to come. Gift giving is great, but let us not forget within our hearts the true meaning of Christmas; Helping others less fortunate than ourselves.

On that note, your help is greatly needed;

A colleague of mine, Michael Ungaro of http://www.thegallerybx.com/ in conjunction with the 40Th Pct. and Community Board are collecting toys and baby garments for their annual drive. All items will be donated to a homeless shelter with 21 families. The ages range from 3 months to 18 yrs old. Boys and Girls.

The Deadline is by December 13, 2015.

If you are a native New Yorker and live in the areas of any of the Drop Off zones listed below, I encourage you to do so. And for those of you who live outside of New York mail it in if you can. I can’t begin to tell you how much of a difference it makes to the parents who struggle so hard to give their children the best. and most of all the receiver of the gift, the child.

The price range of $10.00 to $15.00 USD per gift, falls short of the value that child will place on that gift.

Here are the Drop Offs:

The Gallery Lounge
26 Bruckner Blvd.
Bronx, New York 10454

40Th Pct.
257 Alexander Avenue
Bronx, New York 10454

Metro Optics Eyewear
1332 Metropolitan Avenue
Bronx, New York 10462

Metro Optics Eyewear
25 Westchester Sq.
Bronx, New York 10461

For further information feel free to contact Gloria Cruz 718-924-1918 or Alex Diaz at 917-370-9090.

After all Christmas comes once a year, but the ability to make someones circumstance lighter and brighter can happen everyday and that is the greatest gift of all.

With Sincere Thanks.

Moments Like These …

Moments Like These …

I received a text message Wednesday evening from my very dear and wonderful friend since the dawning of age, with the news that she was on her way to the hospital. Her contractions were 10 minutes apart. I had to say, I was a little disappointed for 2 reasons:

1. I was not going to be able go to the hospital as I did for baby #1. They don’t allow children to enter into certain areas. Of course, I am mother to a very special and loverable 7 year old boy, who is jointed at my hip. No baby sitter and it was school night.

2. I lost the pot. We took a poll at her Baby Shower held nearly two weeks ago, of each guest and when they thought she would actually deliver. Funny thing. Her due date was the 22. I said she was going to deliver on the 24Th (which so happens to be my sons birthdate). Didn’t happen. No way. That baby wanted OUT!!

I am pleased to announce the arrival of:

Jaiden Alexander Thomas

Born: Thursday, October 16, 2014 @ 1:05 AM

Weighing in @ 7 pounds 7 ounces (Perfect!)

When I spoke to Monique the very next day, she sound exhausted and relieved that she finally had her body back. She said that she had just finished feeding Jaiden but that he was up and checking things out a mile a minute. She wanted him to go to sleep.

For those of you who have been asking if I planned events other than weddings. Yes, I do! (No pun intended there) I had the absolute honor of planning Baby Shower #2, with the help of the family. In some of the photos you will see things like a Baby Book ( Guest Book, Dream Book, or Wish Book), chocolate lollipops, and the Invitation for the baby shower. All which were created by Dreams & Keepsakes. Also the cake, with the family photo on it was a very endearing touch(way to go Marion). Overall we had a blast!

Although weddings are our passion & speciality, we ultimately have a passion for planning all events. Our motto: “Where Planning is Everything”

Congratulations to James, Monique, and James Jr.

Welcome Baby Jaiden Alexander!

Let Your Voice Be Heard

Let Your Voice Be Heard

It’s that time again all where we all can have a chance at choosing the next person that will sit in the chair in the Oval Office, it we choose to do so.

This is a hard time for us right now with all that is going on there seems as if there is no end to rise and fall of the economy. One thing that should remain the same is our faith that things will get better, in spite of. Businesses and households across the entire globe are affected. There is none that has gone unscathed. On some level or another we have all felt the effects of our countries’ economical status.

When the new Commander in Chief takes his position in office we may not see the effects of change right away, but it will come eventually. No matter who your choice of candidate is, utilize your right to make a difference in this historical election. If you are having some difficulty with choice because of the many challenging variables, take it from an indifferent approach. Meaning, let the deciding factor be based on the choices you stand for and what each candidate represents.Does a particular Candidate campaign line up with your views, or not. Weigh it in. When all else fails, pray.

I can’t express the gravity of this election and what it will mean for our economy, our people, and our nation as a whole. So utilize your right to vote in this presidential election and let your voice be heard.

How Time Flies …

How Time Flies …

Yesterday, my family and I celebrated my son Ryan’s 8th birthday. It just seemed like the other day, I was changing his diapers. My little boy is growing into a little boy man. I can’t believe it, yet I see it everyday.

When I decided to pursue my “niche” as a business, I have not been able to do the things that I usually do. For instance, Rye-Rye has had a party every year up until the age of three. The works. Since then, the celebrations have been far, few and low keyed, of small intimate gatherings amongst family and friends. And I have been feeling somewhat guilty about that.

On the interim, my son is a “Huge” High School Musical fan and last night we surprised him by taking him to see “HSM3”. He had a Blast! I enjoyed it too, but so much more because he did. It was so funny the week leading up to that night because although it was intended to be a surprise, everyone pretentiously, unknowingly kept spilling the beans. To my surprise, it was the grown ups, mostly. His cousins however, were on point with keeping the grown ups in check about it. Go figure. You’d think it would have been the other way around.

The movie, Great. The time spent with my family, Better. The expression on my son’s face when we told him the surprise and wished him a Happy Birthday in front of the theatre, Priceless. He danced around, hugged me, and gave me a big thanks. It literally happened in that order. Although he didn’t have a party, he had a great time with his cousins and was the center of their attention. It’s moments like these, that I wish can last a little longer. I know they can’t but the memories of them, I’ll treasure, Forever.

My little boy is growing up to be a young little man, through and by the Grace of God.

Happy Birthday Baby. I Love you always!

Tagged?! Again This Year!!!

Last week I was tagged by one of my colleagues, the Lovely Landra of Eventistas.

I was instructed to:

1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design
2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Scrap.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon 🙂
3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself

Without further adieu here are 10 things about me:
10. I love all things Superman. Huge Smallville fan. I’ve collected all sets to date.
9. I love chocolate covered pretzels. So If you’re going to give me a gift, it should be that.
8. I don’t like the winter time. Too many layers!
7. I love reading medical mystery novels.
6. I don’t have cable TV.
5. I’m a Gemini.
4. I am a Vocational Counselor by day, and a Planner by night.
3. I love to laugh.
2.I aspire to work full time doing the very thing that I love, planning weddings & special events.
1. I am a devoted mother, to the cutest little man child on the face of the earth.

So, here’s the deal. Since the last time I was tagged, I’ve been on home base ever since. Not to mention the numerous amount of really great blogs out there, I am truly unable to narrow it down.

Cheers!

New Horizons In Wedding Planning

New Horizons In Wedding Planning

You know when you have a dream, and you get really excited about the dream. But then when that dream comes true, your not quite sure that you’re ready for it?

I was contacted a few weeks ago about commerical space for my business. I went, saw the space, and immediately something sparked. Now mind you, while vacationing this past summer, I was brainstorming about the next step in my business. Where do I go? What do I do? My mind, my spirit, and my heart were collectively telling me that I needed to expand business wise. To find a location where I would be able to be put my work on display and get noticed publicly, on a day-to-day basis. For those of you who know, I have been operating a home based business for 5 years now.

That was one month ago today.

And I am happy to announce that today, the paperwork was started to begin the process of the NEW LMEP location. I’m excited, and nervous at the same time. And above all, I am ready. This new and exciting venture comes with endless possibilities and I am delighted! All of this couldn’t have come at a better time (Only God Knows – and to him I am completely thankful),this opportunity along with the up coming bridal show in three weeks. As well as the release of my company’s’ marketing video showcasing our past events and our keepsake products.

I could only think of two places where to share my testimony; with my faithful readers and supporters, and my family in the faith. I will keep you informed of the when & where of the bridal show, as well as the progress of the shop. Stayed tuned for the new marketing materials that made the cut from our “Cast Your Votes” segment this past summer and the launch of the new LMEP website.

A Day in the Life Of A Wedding Planner

A Day in the Life

……….and shoes of a Wedding Planner.

It’s no wonder that I love what I do. I am passionate toward the cause of making my clients dreams come true. Although at times challenging, my career is very rewarding. As many of you know and for those of you who do not, I have been doing this for quite some time (the business), and no matter what obstacles have come my way, still I rise.

It’s so important to have your dreams harnessed in more than just the glitz and the glam. Yet rooted with a realistic approach, hard work, perseverance, and knowingthat with faith nothing is impossible. It’s with these things, above all, faith that you can achieve anything you put your heart and mind to. My goal is to instill this in each person that I come into contact with. Business and Personal. Faith is the antidote that cures all “cant’s” and “impossibilities”.

So when challenges arise, I look back at all of my dreams that have come to pass to date. And with that same passion and drive that has bought me through, I push forward in spite of. Stronger. Wiser. Better. So when others tell you that you can’t do what you want or if they feel that it’s not within the stars, allow your mind to become impervious to their doubt; only to strive harder and reach higher.

Remember your dreams are your dreams, and no one has the power to take them from you, except you.
