Sketch Your Dress

Sketch Your Dress

What better way to mark the occasion than to capture the essence of your gown in this beautiful and endearing keepsake. Dreamlines can render a sketch of your wedding ensemble for as little as $100 (USD) a pop. Note that it will not be an exact, but close to it. To learn about this click here.

If you have your heart set on a designer, I encourage you to ask if this is a service available and if it is included with your investment. How Time Flies …

How Time Flies …

Yesterday, my family and I celebrated my son Ryan’s 8th birthday. It just seemed like the other day, I was changing his diapers. My little boy is growing into a little boy man. I can’t believe it, yet I see it everyday.

When I decided to pursue my “niche” as a business, I have not been able to do the things that I usually do. For instance, Rye-Rye has had a party every year up until the age of three. The works. Since then, the celebrations have been far, few and low keyed, of small intimate gatherings amongst family and friends. And I have been feeling somewhat guilty about that.

On the interim, my son is a “Huge” High School Musical fan and last night we surprised him by taking him to see “HSM3”. He had a Blast! I enjoyed it too, but so much more because he did. It was so funny the week leading up to that night because although it was intended to be a surprise, everyone pretentiously, unknowingly kept spilling the beans. To my surprise, it was the grown ups, mostly. His cousins however, were on point with keeping the grown ups in check about it. Go figure. You’d think it would have been the other way around.

The movie, Great. The time spent with my family, Better. The expression on my son’s face when we told him the surprise and wished him a Happy Birthday in front of the theatre, Priceless. He danced around, hugged me, and gave me a big thanks. It literally happened in that order. Although he didn’t have a party, he had a great time with his cousins and was the center of their attention. It’s moments like these, that I wish can last a little longer. I know they can’t but the memories of them, I’ll treasure, Forever.

My little boy is growing up to be a young little man, through and by the Grace of God.

Happy Birthday Baby. I Love you always!

Frosting, Anyone?

Frosting, Anyone?

Who says desserts can only adorn it?

Think again!

If you love crystals, and all the glam that comes along with it, then you’ll love this. Of course as a bride, you have visions and dreams of how you’d like to look on your big day. Aspirations to shine and be the center of attention. They Key is not only to shine outward in, but from inward out.
Sooo, why not have your cake and eat it too?
A suggestion – try to add a bit of sparkle, or a swirl of pizazz to make your ensemble all the more complete. From the crown of your head to the very soles of your feet, and then some. You’ll not only look and feel special, but it will radiate through your pores.

Down That Aisle In Style

Down That Aisle In Style

Greetings All,

I recently received this amazing and detailed book for today’s Full-Figured Bride. This book offers real advice and encouragement, while providing a “Dream Map” to assist full-figured women in planning one of the most important days of their lives.

Did you know that the average size of a woman in the US is a size 16? And more and more she is making her debut down the aisle, and in style. Who said that true beauty only came in a size 6? Not any more, for the race is on!

The author Chamein Canton is phenomenal. A survivor, and a miracle among us. With many years in the wedding industry, as a wedding consultant and accomplished author, she has a heart to give back to women and she did just that in her new book, Down That Aisle In Style, A Guide for Full-Figured Women.

As I consumed the content of the pages, literally, I was blown away. This book is so rich in advice on health and beauty tips. Dress and veils selections according to your body and face shape. Yeah, it’s really that deep. It’s detailed in photos and is surplus in information. Plus it’s easy to read. In addition, it explains how and why you should choose a photographer, that has experience working with full-figured clients, and so much more. Umm…umm, Good Stuff!

The experience had encouraged me to refer to this Guide when working with my full-figured clients and recommend to those who are not. This book is retailed at $34.95 and is available in hardback on Reserve your copy today! If not for youself, then for that full-figured (soon-to-be-bride) woman in your life. Trust me, she’ll cherish it, and you for contributing to her peace of mind on her very special day.

I think it’s important for any bride to feel like Cinderella on her special day. More importantly, to feel that way the months leading up to that day. Confidence is an essential part of the equation and can be attained only when you educate yourself, and truly accept and love you for who you are. Beautiful, Bountiful, and Blessed!

Bridal Shower Bliss

Bridal Shower Bliss

This weekend we surprised Adrienne, the Bride-to-Be (my baby sister) with her shower.

It was a completely unexpected and emotional event for her and special for everyone else involved. Everything was lovely. From the cake topper to her wedding gown balloon, to her serving plates. Every last detail was lovely, well thought out and orchestrated to perfection. I had to give kudos to the Maid of Honor, Freda, who happens to be the oldest of the twin set.

Well folks, we’re down to the wire. With only 17 more days until Matrimonial Bliss and the bride couldn’t be more happier or excited.

Me too!..

Your Wedding Day Memories

Your Wedding Day Memories

What will you remember about your wedding day?

It’s so hard to take into the account every little detail that will occur on your special day. Especially when having to cope with getting your hair and makeup exactly the way it was three weeks ago when you went for a trial run. Your nerves going haywire. Your bridesmaids being on point. Your mother. Getting to the church on time. Did I mention your nerves? Your flowers all being accounted for. And more importantly, keeping emotionally sound so that your mascara doesn’t run.

The Key: Your peace of mind. Rule of thumb: Everything falls short of perfection. With that in mind try to focus on what matters most; your union, your loved ones there to share in the joy, and the celebration of your love for one another on that day.

Also try something a little less traditional at one point or another throughout your day. Something that will cause your mind and your heart to fall in line collectively and with each other. Such as a stolen moment, before or after the ceremony. With trying to stay on schedule; ergo to avoid paying additional fees, greeting your guests, and on top of that trying to actually enjoy the day, it can become a tad bit overwhelming. Nowadays brides and grooms are “taking” quiet time out for each other during their wedding day. A time to focus solely on each other and maintain your balances.

If you have a fairytale vision for your special day, or if you envisioned a romantic moment with your groom; GO FOR IT!. Delegate that duty to someone who would assist you in making it happen. And then have your photographer there to capture that moment, forever.

After all dreams do come true, producing memories that will last you a lifetime.

Tagged?! Again This Year!!!

Last week I was tagged by one of my colleagues, the Lovely Landra of Eventistas.

I was instructed to:

1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design
2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Scrap.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon 🙂
3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself

Without further adieu here are 10 things about me:
10. I love all things Superman. Huge Smallville fan. I’ve collected all sets to date.
9. I love chocolate covered pretzels. So If you’re going to give me a gift, it should be that.
8. I don’t like the winter time. Too many layers!
7. I love reading medical mystery novels.
6. I don’t have cable TV.
5. I’m a Gemini.
4. I am a Vocational Counselor by day, and a Planner by night.
3. I love to laugh.
2.I aspire to work full time doing the very thing that I love, planning weddings & special events.
1. I am a devoted mother, to the cutest little man child on the face of the earth.

So, here’s the deal. Since the last time I was tagged, I’ve been on home base ever since. Not to mention the numerous amount of really great blogs out there, I am truly unable to narrow it down.

Superstition and Tradition

su·per·sti·tion n.
An irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome.

1. A belief, practice, or rite irrationally maintained by ignorance of the laws of nature or by faith in magic or chance.
2. A fearful or abject state of mind resulting from such ignorance or irrationality.
3. Idolatry.

Did you know…

It was thought unlucky for a woman to marry a man whose surname began with the same letter as her own. This was summarize in the following rhyme:

To change the name and not the letter
Is to change for the worst and not the better

What were they thinking? Honestly. To think, how many really lost out on true love because they followed this to heart. Today brides-to-be are more than thrilled to be joined with the man of their dreams and sharing the same initials are an added bonus.

What are your thoughts? I love to read them.
